Hilton Head Island geographical information: The Low Country
is comprised of four counties: Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper. Located
primarily in the Southern most part of the state of South Carolina. Hilton Head
Island spans about 5 miles at its widest point and 12 miles in length. The
local topography is a blend of salt water marshes and sandy warm ocean beaches
from the east.

climate is considered to be semi-tropical. The mid-winter temperature will
customarily range from about the 60ºs during the day to the lower
40ºs at night. The spring and fall seasons are an absolute delight with
mild day and evening temperatures.

Island area: There are many distinct communities in the Hilton
Head area, each with their own unique appeal. Many are gated self contained
communities offering an array of amenities ranging from golf & tennis club
memberships to private beach access. Other areas are common and open to the
public having their own special charm and appeal offering beach access to
everyone.

Economy: The Hilton Head Island economy is
primarily tourism and real estate driven. More then $1.5 billion impacted the
Hilton Head Island/Bluffton-Okatie economy in 2000 by 2.5 million visitors,
several hundred of whom made the move permanent. Presently, there are more than
600 real estate executives employed on the Island. 61% of local jobs are
tourism-related. Approximately 43 percent of the 5,000 licensed Island
enterprises are retail and service-oriented companies. Retail operations and
restaurants in particular have flourished in the Hilton Head Island/
Bluffton-Okatie area.
